Vintage 9ct Gold Smith & Pepper Coiled Snake Bracelet with Ruby Eyes

  
Mr Smith and his uncle Mr Pepper set up the business in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The company made a wide range of jewellery, notably swallow designs, popular during the Wars, and Egyptian style snake designs, after Egyptologist Howard Carter made ancient egypt fashionable. The company became known around the world and finally stopped trading in 1981. The snake motif in antique jewellery is a recurring design and represents "Eternal love and wisdom", becoming popular after Queen Victoria was given a snake ring by Prince Albert for her wedding ring. The snakes head is beautifully and intricately decorated.

The bracelet is fully hallmarked 9ct gold (Birmingham 1975), with a steel spring inside to make it very flexible, so it would fit most wrists (it can be'uncurled'). The snake wraps around the wrist beautifully. The bracelet is around 6mm wide and the two rubies each measure around 1mm (I have taken a photo of it with a 50p to give an idication of it's size).

It is in very good condition and is a very respectable weight at around 21g. I have other silver, gold, antique and vintage items listed so feel free to have a look!
